She received her Ph.D. in Women’s Studies and Art Education from The Pennsylvania State University. She was selected as a Fulbright Fellow to teach and conduct research at The Institute of Development Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam in 2009-2010. Her research interests include: transnational feminisms as it intersects with development, cultural tourism, heritage, and preservation. Her most recent project engages the promises and problems regarding transnational maternal health projects that seek to reduce maternal death in Tanzania.
