Brenda Bethman

I am the director of the Women's Center and the Women's & Gender Studies Program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where I also teach German and Women's & Gender Studies courses.

Along the way, Brenda was dragged kicking and screaming onto Facebook and is now a social media fiend. It’s been invaluable in her work with students, colleagues, and women’s center constituents, not to mention keeping up with far-flung friends and relatives.

I have has presented and published on social media, assessment, women’s leadership, women’s literature, Elfriede Jelinek, Marlene Streeruwitz, Ingeborg Bachmann, and feminism in a variety of venues. I hold a B.A. in German Literature from Dickinson College, an M.A. in German Literature from Temple University, and a Ph.D. in Modern German Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Feminist Studies from UMass Amherst.

When I am not working (which is not often enough), you’ll find her enjoying good food in Kansas City’s many fine restaurants, reading, and traveling.
